I like being a tough little Cat. Being indomitable and able to take a truckload of cat-nip's worth of damage has been my type of play style. It also feels like I contribute plenty when I'm the one having to take the most blows for the team :3

That makes Fortitude my class choice.

Seems to me like the system is at odds with itself. If I can pick any skill, why punish me by forcin ...

I edited my earlier post to make it a bit clearer so you may wish to re-read it.

It's not so much a class system but more a decision at each level to choose which family of abilities you want to improve the most. If you want to keep all three families of skills roughly equal, you'll need to choose each Discipline in turn over several levels.

This system rewards you for specialising but also gives you the freedom to balance each family.

I have two questions now. Are you going to introduce new classes/skill families in later content? If yes, how would you include them to such original system? The other one is about ranged weapons. I've seen many of them on some sketches and concept arts for akaneiro. Are you going to include them as a regular weapon available to all classes or only as "abilities" for cunning?

I'd really like to run with crossbow instead of katanas. Now it's kinda annoying that the only way to play with ranged weapon is to use one of two abilities that with their energy use don't allow us to be full-time shooter.

We have no plans to add new Disciplines at this time. It would be possible to add them in content packs later but this is not part of our current plan.

Ranged weapons were considered earlier in the design process, which is why they appear in the concept art, but were later removed from the game. Ranged weapons could make an appearance in a future content pack but no promises at this stage

A system that rewards you for specialization also punishes you for generalizing. It's not really freedom if it's inherently weaker.

Personally I think of it like Demon's/Dark Souls, you picked a starting "Class" but that only dictated what you started with. After that you can go with whatever you want/feel most comfortable playing.
Quite honestly I like that more than anything.

As per the topic, I'm going an assassin/ninja style character as my main and I'd like to make a tank later on.

Thing is this makes each experience different and allows you to make more than one character. It wouldn't be fun if everyone was the same, that's why too much flexibility isn't always a good thing.
Also this makes it so people like me who do like to go down one route are still strong in their own right. Our weakness would be we don't have acess to multiple types of moves like the hybrids get.
